Welcome to Ridge Referrals

Welcome to Ridge Referrals

Ridge Referrals is an independent small animal orthopaedic referral service situated in a beautiful rural setting near Ashcombe, South Devon.

Patrick and Tanzi Ridge head up this small family business which was established in May 2009, supported by a team of highly trained, dedicated staff who are committed to providing the best possible care for the much loved pets that are entrusted to us by the referring veterinary surgery.

We all have pets of our own and fully understand the joy, fun and companionship that pet ownership brings but alongside this we also appreciate how distressing it can be when your pet has an injury or illness. Our aim is to guide you through the referral process with ease, honesty and transparency.

We accept veterinary referrals (cases sent from other vets) in all aspects of orthopaedics in cats and dogs including fractures, joint disease and medical orthopaedics such as certain causes of arthritis and muscle diseases. We have a particular expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) joint surgery and this technique is frequently used in our treatment protocols.

Ridge Referrals Ltd Brucella Canis protocol

Having reviewed the information that has been provided by RCVS, BVA, BSAVA and AHPA and completing a risk assessment for Ridge Referrals Ltd we will not be able to accept patients that test positive for Brucella canis.

We will accept referrals for patients that have been imported from high risk countries (see attached document) or have travelled to high risk countries as long as they have tested negative for Brucella Canis (see below), not actively showing symptoms of Brucella canis (see below) and have been neutered. If a patient has recently been imported we would recommend a Brucella canis blood sample is run 3 months after import.

If you have any queries about this protocol, please contact the practice to discuss further.
